Assistant Minister for Forestry and Fisheries Jonno Duniam said the Federal Court’s judgment on the Tasmanian Regional Forest Agreement was a win for Australia’s forest industry.

“This is a victory for every hard-working man and woman in forestry across the nation,” Assistant Minister Duniam said.

“Regional Forest Agreements (RFA) are the best way of balancing environmental, economic and social demands for our native forests.

“Bob Brown said himself that ‘it’s time for a big winner’* when it comes to the native forestry industry, and today’s decision confirms forestry is that winner.

“Bob Brown is the loser in today’s judgment.  Once again, his attempt to use lawfare to shut down forestry has failed.

“Bob Brown must accept the decision of the court and heed his own advice: ‘It is time we moved on.’*

“Our Government is unwavering in our commitment to RFAs and in our unequivocal support for the forestry industry.

“Protesters branded this the ‘Great Forest Case’*, and the court has found exactly that, confirming that our forestry industry is great.”
