The Tasmanian Labor Party has once again proven its incompetence by cancelling the state conference just weeks away from it being held.

Liberal Senator for Tasmania Jonno Duniam said the cancellation was true to form for a Labor Party that has been plagued by scandal, disorganisation and a lack of strong leadership.

“The Labor Party in Tasmania couldn’t fight its way out of a wet paper bag at the moment,” Senator Duniam said.

“I can’t help but feel sorry for the rank and file Labor members in this state who must be looking on in horror at the unravelling of their party.

“As if the White-O’Byrne-White saga at the state level wasn’t enough, Labor have now stripped away from their members the opportunity to take part in the state conference, all so they can save face in the lead-up to the federal election.

“How can Tasmanians trust Labor’s federal senators and MPs to deliver for them in Canberra when the party they are supposed to be leading can’t even hold a state conference?

“In the current climate Tasmania needs stability, and this proves that the Labor Party is utterly unable to deliver it.”
