Record highs for Australian forestry

Australia’s forestry sector continues to grow according to the latest Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) report.

The report confirms Australia’s forestry sector has recorded its fifth consecutive year of growth, with exports increasing to a record $3.9 billion for the financial year.

The estimated volume of logs harvested in 2018−19 also remained high at 32.7 million cubic metres, with the estimated value increasing to around $2.7 billion.

Australia’s forestry industry is world-class, sustainable and employs thousands of people in our regional areas, and these great results confirm that we have what the world wants.

We will continue to pull all the levers we can to support the industry as we implement our plan to grow our Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to $100 billion industries by 2030.
