Recognition for Tasmania’s forestry champions

The outstanding contribution of the individuals and companies behind Tasmania’s forestry industry was recognised last night at the inaugural 2019 Tasmanian Timber Awards.

Tasmania’s forestry industry has a proud history of creating jobs, strengthening the economy and supporting regional Tasmania.

It clearly has a strong future too, and the Morrison Government will support the industry every step of the way.

Tasmania’s industry owes its success to the hard work and resilience of the people behind it, and these awards are deserved recognition for their dedication.

I congratulate all award recipients and thank them for their exceptional contribution to the industry and our state more broadly – they should be very proud of what they have achieved.

Tasmania’s sustainably managed wood production and innovative use of timber and wood products will play a key role in helping the Morrison Government reach our goal of a $100 billion agriculture, fisheries and forestry sector by 2030.

I look forward to working with the award recipients and the industry more broadly as we implement our vision for Tasmania’s productive and sustainable forestry industries.

I would also like to thank the Tasmanian Forests and Forest Products Network for hosting the inaugural Tasmanian Timber Awards.
