Assistant Minister for Industry Development Jonno Duniam said today’s announcement of a trans-Tasman travel bubble from April 19 will give a boost to local tourism operators.

“The return of international flights to Hobart could not be better timed,” Assistant Minister Duniam said.

“This new direct service between Auckland and Hobart will see New Zealand travellers pack a much-needed boost for Tasmanian tourism, accommodation and hospitality businesses.

“The Morrison Government has worked in lockstep with the Gutwein Government and Hobart Airport to ensure that border services at Hobart Airport will be in place to support these trans-Tasman flights.

“When the first Air New Zealand flight touches down, the Australian Border Force will be at the ready to process the international arrivals, to provide customs and immigration services and to marshal travellers through dedicated processing areas.”
