Revelations of an internal-Labor revolt against new laws to protect salmon jobs on Tasmania’s West Coast highlights that you simply can’t trust Labor on salmon, Shadow Environment Minister Jonno Duniam said today.

“Yesterday, it is reported that a number of inner-Sydney Labor MPs internally raised concerns about proposed legislation to protect West Coast salmon jobs”, Senator Duniam said.

“Reportedly, Labor’s powerful environment caucus committee held three separate meetings between Friday and Sunday night to finally agree to the legislation.”

“Even then, the legislation was only agreed with a commitment from the Prime Minister that a re-elected Labor Government will proceed with the establishment of a Federal EPA and their so-called “Nature Positive” – I call it “Job Destroying” – environment legislation.”

“Without doubt, a re-elected Labor Government, captive to the Greens and their own inner-city MPs, will roll back protection of salmon jobs.”

“You simply can’t trust Labor on salmon”, Senator Duniam concluded.
