The Prime Minister’s visit to Tasmania has already disappointed salmon industry workers after he yet again failed to guarantee that an EPBC review decision on Macquarie Harbour would be made before the election.

Shadow Environment, Fisheries and Forestry Minister, Jonno Duniam, is disappointed on behalf of Tasmanian workers who have had their livelihoods put under threat by this Government, and is again calling on the Prime Minister to act before heading to the polls:

“The Albanese Labor Government are the ones that have put Tasmanian salmon jobs on the chopping block. They could stop the uncertainty today but, as it stands, the community of Strahan have no timeline of when a decision by this Government will be made.”

“All we have heard is empty words from the Prime Minister. Every time the Mr Albanese visits Tasmania, he disappoints the community of Strahan.”

“Labor sided with activists by agreeing to this review. They are looking after votes in inner-city electorates when they should be more concerned about regional jobs.”

“Mr Albanese must follow the Coalition’s lead and guarantee that salmon jobs on Macquarie Harbour are protected.”
