Jobs on offer at Hobart Jobs Fair

The Morrison Government’s Hobart Jobs Fair will bring together local job seekers and businesses in and around Hobart on Thursday 2 December at Princes Wharf No 1.

Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, said the jobs fair will promote a wide range of employment opportunities for job seekers looking to get into work.

‘The Morrison Government is committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, as we continue our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,’ Minister Robert said.

‘Creating jobs and boosting the skills of Australians to help them get back into work is at the heart of our Economic Recovery Plan.

‘Continuing the strong momentum we’ve seen in the local labour market, we want as many people from Hobart and surrounding areas as possible to upskill and reskill, and get work in their communities.’

Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, the Hon Luke Howarth MP, said certain sectors of the economy are experiencing a strong demand for workers, and Hobart and southern Tasmania are no exception.

‘We know there is a real need to fill vacancies across the Australian labour market, which is why the Hobart Jobs Fair is so important,’ Assistant Minister Howarth said.

‘There will be hundreds of jobs on offer at the fair, including  aged and disability care, tourism and hospitality, manufacturing, childcare and education, which will play a key role in securing our future economic prosperity.

‘We are committed to helping job seekers find employment opportunities, whether they’re looking in Hobart or somewhere else in Tasmania.’

Assistant Minister for Industry Development and Senator for Tasmania Jonno Duniam said the Morrison Government’s ongoing commitment to creating more jobs will set Tasmania up for future prosperity.

‘Our plan to connect local job seekers with work will help Tasmania bounce back stronger than ever after the COVID-19 pandemic,’ Assistant Minister Duniam said.

‘Our community is working hard to support its businesses and job seekers to take advantage of new employment opportunities as our economic recovery gathers pace.’

The Hobart Jobs Fair is free. There will be two sessions running from 9.30 am —12.30 pm and 1.30 pm — 4 pm. Registrations are essential to ensure COVID-19 safety guidelines are met. For more details visit: www.dese.gov.au/jobs-fair/upcoming-jobs-fairs/hobartjf
