Tasmania’s reputation as a must-see tourism destination has again been recognised with the Maria Island Walk selected in Flight Centre’s 2020 WOW list.

The prestigious list is selected by industry experts and showcases 50 must-see destinations across the world, with the Maria Island Walk the only Tasmanian experience and one of only four across Australia.

This is a fantastic endorsement and deserved recognition of the Maria Island Walk experience and the work of owner Ian Johnstone.

The listing of the Maria Island Walk shows the world what Tasmania is made of, and that’s our amazing wilderness and the opportunity for unique experiences.

This will shine the global spotlight on our growing eco-tourism industry, which helps to attract more visitors to our state and boost jobs and investment in our regions.

This is a great example of the success that comes when we share and protect all that’s special about Tasmania’s unique wilderness, and demonstrates why regional tourism will form the centrepiece of our Tourism 2030 Strategy.

Congratulations to Ian Johnstone and all involved in the Walk, and I look forward to seeing more eco-tourism accolades for Tasmania in the years to come.
