Outgoing Seafood Industry Association CEO Jane Lovell has been an exceptional advocate for the seafood sector across Australia.

Since her appointment as the inaugural CEO of the national peak body for Australia’s seafood industry in 2017, Jane has served with dedication, passion and resolve.

The leadership Jane has shown in the face of the recent and unprecedented challenges arising from this summer’s bushfires and the coronavirus are a testament to these qualities.

Jane has championed the needs of the industry during these trying times and has spearheaded the industry’s work with Government to provide industry specific support.

Jane’s work was instrumental in securing $10 million to waive AFMA fees for Commonwealth fishers, and the $110 million International Freight Assistance Mechanism, to get Australian seafood back into key international markets.

She has also been working to develop and deliver a Mental Health Support initiative aimed specifically at supporting fishers, which our Government committed to at the election, and has been a driving force behind ongoing work on additional support for Australia’s fishers.

There is no doubt that Australia’s seafood industry is stronger for Jane’s advocacy.

I thank Jane for her commitment to the industry, her steadfast engagement with me and my office, and I wish her the very best into the future.
