The Morrison Government’s $76 million tourism recovery package is good news for Tasmania’s tourism industry.

These fires are bringing much of our tourism industry to their knees, and this is the first step in helping them back onto their feet.

Tourism operators have endured the direct impacts of the fires, with evacuations and cancellations during the peak season and forward bookings dropping away.

But the ongoing indirect affects are being felt in towns and cities far from the fire front, and Tasmania like all states will not be immune.

That is why we are acting now and delivering an initial $76 million nationwide recovery plan to provide immediate help to get our regions and our nation back up and running.

Tasmanians know all too well the devastation of bushfires and the challenges that come in their wake.

For all those Tasmanians who want to do something to help, I encourage them to plan a trip in their own backyard.

Every minute and every dollar Tassie travellers spend in our fire affected regions and even those that are completely unaffected right here at home will help
