Tasmania’s Marinus Link will share in $250 million of Morrison Government funding to accelerate energy projects that are critical to our nation.

Assistant Minister for Regional Tourism, Forestry and Fisheries Jonno Duniam said the Morrison Government is committed to delivering affordable, reliable energy to support Tasmania’s economy.

“The Marinus Link is key to unlocking Tasmania’s potential and it’s a win for Tasmania’s economy that this project will be accelerated and deliver jobs sooner,” Assistant Minister Duniam said.

“Marinus Link and Battery of the Nation will create up to 3,800 direct and indirect jobs during construction and deliver an economic stimulus of up to $7 billion, predominantly in north-western Tasmania and regional Victoria.

“The project will help drive economic recovery and will help put downward pressure on prices.

“It’ll also unlock large, untapped wind and solar energy resources, and will add an additional 1,200 megawatts of capacity across Bass Strait.”
