The Morrison Government is supporting Tasmanian workers by providing a $1,500 Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment if they cannot work because they need to self-isolate or quarantine.
Assistant Minister Jonno Duniam said it was important Tasmanians stayed at home if they were feeling unwell.
“This agreement between the Federal and Tasmanian Governments provides a lifeline for Tasmanians who are unable to work,” Assistant Minister Duniam said.
“Deciding to take time off work due to illness isn’t easy for Tasmanians who don’t receive sick leave.
“This payment means eligible workers will be supported if they take time off work, and Tasmanian workplaces will be safer.”
The Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment is a lump sum payment to help workers during their 14 day self-isolation period and applies from 22 August 2020.
