TASMANIAN FEDERAL LABOR MPs NEED TO ANSWER GST QUESTIONS
Tasmania’s Federal Labor MPs and Senators must today tell Tasmanians whether they have asked Treasurer Jim Chalmers to ensure Tasmania would not lose any of its fair share of GST as a result of Labor’s waterfront stadium commitment – and when they made that request.
Over the last week, both Federal and State Liberals have sought a guarantee from the Federal Government that Tasmania will not lose a dollar of GST as a result of this announcement.
Alarmingly, Labor have failed to provide that guarantee and Tasmania cannot afford to lose a dollar in our GST revenue which pays for essential services in health and education.
It is a decision for Labor as to whether they protect our GST or not – whether they make Tasmanians suffer or not. The State and Federal Liberals have asked for this guarantee – Labor need to tell us today whether they’re going to do the right thing by Tasmanians and back in our call to protect our fair share.
